You can cancel your RAC Tatkal tickets, up to 30 minutes before the departure of the train. This time period has been reduced in order to facilitate cancellation near to the departure. Earlier, the cancellation of RAC Tatkal ticket was allowed 24 hours prior to the departure. But now it is possible to cancel the tickets quite near to the departure. In case waiting tatkal tickets do not get confirmed, then the tickets get automatically cancelled and the whole amount is refunded to the passengers. However, there are fewer chances of the tatkal waiting list tickets getting confirmed. So, if it is not confirmed, then you will get the refund.
Tatkal Waiting Ticket Refund Status
Tatkal tickets are easy to book and cancel but the main thing which bothers every passenger is whether the ticket will get confirmed or not. Tatkal tickets are either confirmed or remain in the waiting list. However, there are fewer chances of the waiting list tickets to get confirmed. Most of the times, they are cancelled and the passengers get the refund. For tatkal tickets, a waiting list is issued by the Indian Railways, known as the Tatkal Waiting List(TQWL). If the tatkal ticket goes up, it directly gets confirmed and doesn't go through RAC status. However, during chart preparation, General Waiting List(GNWL) is preferred over the Tatkal Waiting List(TQWL). Therefore, these waitlisted tickets are less likely to get confirmed.
