What is Premium Tatkal?

Premium Tatkal scheme is a new quota introduced by the Indian Railways reserving few seats with dynamic fare pricing to book the train tickets. This scheme is different in some points but with regard to timings, it is identical to the normal tatkal scheme. Many benefits can be obtained under this scheme and no such complications are involved in the booking process. The pricing of the normal tatkal tickets is on the basis of travel classes, whereas the pricing of the premium tatkal tickets changes dynamically. In this situation, the more the demand for tickets, the higher will be the Tatkal ticket fare.

The premium tatkal ticket is the facility launched by the IRCTC in order to facilitate quick booking to all the passengers. The passengers must consider this thing that the Premium Tatkal Booking is not available to all the trains and is restricted to some trains. Under the premium tatkal ticket booking, only e-tickets are permitted and I-ticket booking is not allowed under this quota. Also, agents are not allowed to book the premium tatkal tickets. Refund Rules for Premium Tatkal

There are certain refund rules for premium tatkal. These rules are not so favourable for the passengers as they may have to suffer losses due to the cancellation of the premium tickets. First of all, in premium tatkal only confirmed berths are allotted. Therefore under usual circumstances, no refund is issued on cancellation of premium tatkal tickets. However, if the train is running more than 3 hours late at passenger boarding station, then you can get a full refund if you file TDR before the actual departure of the train. But usually, no refunds are provided to the passengers if the tickets are cancelled. So, you should make a proper plan before booking the tickets, so that no need to cancel arises at the time of departure.
