Tatkal tickets remain in the tatkal waiting list(TQWL) until their confirmation. The number of confirmed tickets depend upon the number of seats available in different classes of the train. In case, the waitlisted Tatkal ticket does not get confirmed or RAC, then it automatically gets cancelled and the passenger gets the refund. But if one passenger on Tatkal ticket has a confirmed or RAC ticket, the others with a waitlisted status are allowed to board the train.
