Cancelling the tatkal tickets is not a difficult task and it can be easily done on the official website of the IRCTC. IRCTC allows every passenger to cancel the tickets without any hassle. But the thing which everyone wants to know is the total refunded amount they will get after the cancellation. Tatkal Ticket Refund Rules
IRCTC has laid down specific rules for the tatkal ticket cancellation. These rules basically specify the charges and refund associated with cancellation. It includes both waiting and confirmed tatkal ticket rules. There are separate norms for both of them. The amount to be refunded depends upon the circumstances prevailing at that particular point of time. The train coach booked and the time period before which the ticket is cancelled are the two important factors affecting the cancellation of tatkal tickets. Other rules are also available to the passengers as laid down by the IRCTC. So, make sure to read all these rules before confirming the cancellation.
Tatkal Ticket Refund Rules 2019
In case of cancellation of tickets, the first thing which comes to everyone's mind is how much refunded amount he/she will get. This is because of the charges associated with it. Usually, the charges are deducted from the amount of the tickets and the remaining amount is credited to the account of the passenger. No refunds are allowed on RAC( Reservation Against Cancellation) tickets in case the tickets are not cancelled or Ticket Deposit Receipt (TDR) has not been filed online up to thirty minutes before the scheduled departure of the train. However, full refund of fare and tatkal charges can be availed if the train is cancelled, train is delayed by over 3 hours at the journey originating point (not the boarding station), non-attachment of coach, the route is diverted, if a lower class is provided to the passenger.
Tatkal Ticket Refund Policy
IRCTC has formulated the policy for the refund on cancellation of tatkal tickets. The amount to be refunded differ for waiting list tatkal and confirmed tatkal tickets. If a confirmed ticket is cancelled between forty-eight hours and up to twelve hours before the scheduled departure of the train, a cancellation charge of 25% will be applicable and the passenger will get the remaining 75% as the refunded amount. If it is presented for cancellation in less than 12 hours and up to 4 hours before the scheduled departure of a train or up to chart preparation, whichever is earlier, stand at 50 per cent of the fare. However, this is subject to minimum cancellation charges. The entire refund policy is available on the website of IRCTC.
